Its warm, welcoming atmosphere draws in both regulars and first-time visitors looking for a hearty and authentic meal in a cozy setting.

One of the standout features of Abyssinia is its menu, which is rich in flavor and diversity. For those unfamiliar with Ethiopian and Eritrean dining, the traditional way of eating is an experience in itself. The food is typically served on a large communal plate, and the customary utensil is injera, a type of spongy flatbread. It's used to scoop up the various stews and sides, making each bite an interactive, fun, and flavorful experience. Abyssinia’s injera is perfectly paired with an array of dishes like doro wat, a spicy chicken stew, and kitfo, a minced meat dish seasoned with herbs and spices. The balance of spicy, sour, and savory flavors is unmatched.

  • Lovely, authentic restaurant with great staff, service and tasty food. Will definitely return. The injera was spot on as were all the classic dishes. Would be nice if there was more variety on the menu like sambusas / starters, desserts and spiced Ethiopian tea. Still, yum yum yum.

  • Excellent food and amazing hospitality. Very family friendly, my wife, daughter and I went to this today and loved everything. We had the large mixed Abyssinian dish which had a plethora of different dishes on one large tray with the traditional injera. To finish off we had the ceremonial coffee wish was delicious and strong and the homemade cake which was light and fresh. Would highly recommend.

  • Interesting food, good atmosphere, lovely staff and service. Great neighbourhood restaurant. We tried the sharing platter. The authentic bread is very unusual. You eat the serving mat.

  • The food was tasty and authentic. However, the pancakes' breadth and plates were cold. It was a good experience, and the food was delicious, and we will go again. The portions and prices were reasonable.

  • A lovely cosy place in the middle of an unexpected area. Ihave never tried this type of food, but from what I'm told - it is very Authentic. The service was prompt and kind, the food fresh and very cost effective. Genuinely a welcome change to the normal choices for a Friday night, and if you're in the area, make sure you stop by. The chicken was to die for and definitely one that I would recommend (in the middle next to the egg)
